Compass EAST in the Community

What an incredible few weeks! While the team at Compass EAST has been extremely busy focused on our clients, we make it a priority to give back to the Nashville community whenever we possibly can. I know we saw many of you out and about, but to recap:

Compass EAST Workshop at Nashville Entrepreneur Week

Nashville Entrepreneur Week was a huge success with over 1,000 people attending sessions throughout the week. Tickets are free, as the week is led by the Nashville community who support entrepreneurs of all kinds. Our President and Co-Founder Dan McCarthy led an insightful talk on building scalable financial operations by leveraging different types of accounting software. He also mapped out how each software system interacts with a company’s financial statements.

We’ll be running a series of blog posts over the next few weeks tackling the subject, so stay tuned for that! In the meantime,  you can check out Dan’s presentation slides here: Building Scalable Financial Operations

Catfish Tank

We are so proud of our Director of Financial Strategy, John Lanahan, for doing an incredible job MC’ing Catfish Tank, Nashville’s version of Shark Tank, during Nashville Entrepreneur Week! The night consisted of eight Nashville companies competing for a $10,000 prize and a Crowd Favorite winner who received a free ticket to The 36|86 Festival in August.

Over 200 people watched Filterjoy take down the prize money and KnowledgeBANK take home Crowd Favorite. John is also part of the volunteer organizing committee for Nashville Entrepreneur Week so we are proud to see our team getting involved throughout the process here in Nashville!

2019 T Shaw Strong Golf Tournament

CEO John Nevel and President Dan McCarthy represented Compass EAST at the 2019 TShawStrong Golf Invitational, which raised money for the Team Gleason Foundation. Both organizations serve to raise awareness for ALS as well as fund and develop technologies to enhance the lives of those fighting ALS. Compass EAST was proud to be a sponsor!  John and Dan’s golf game needs some work so they recruited Tim’s Titan teammate Colin McCarthy and golf ace John Rowe to bring us to a respectable 6th out of 28 teams!

Corner to Corner Academy Graduation

Compass EAST was a proud sponsor of the 2019 Corner to Corner Academy Graduation! Corner to Corner is a local Nashville non-profit focused on fostering entrepreneurial skills for families in low-income areas. We believe entrepreneurship is one of the best pathways out of poverty and are proud of the entire graduating class. Compass EAST donated hours to the winner, Flirt and Flutter Custom Lashes, where we’ll work alongside Jamia Sanders to streamline their accounting workflows and provide financial strategy for the company. Congrats to Flirt and Flutter on the win and we look forward to working with you!

Friends of Shelby Park Volunteer Day

This week, the entire Compass EAST team took the afternoon off to give back and work with the non-profit Friends of Shelby Parks and Bottoms to help beautify Shelby Park. Our team unloaded 2 trucks full of mulch to make the plant beds in the park look spectacular! Just like we aim to serve our clients at the highest level, serving our city by giving back to the local community is something we are equally passionate about!
